A safe start
for babies born early

We bring neonatal equipment to hospitals in need.

In 2024, with our donors and in partnership with Serbian Preterm Infants' Parents Association Mali Div, we donated a neonatal incubator to the University Clinical Center Kragujevac, Serbia. To date, 107 babies have been cared for in it.

On November 20 in New York, the Serbian Philanthropic Association Gala raises funds for transport incubators and neonatal equipment.

The first journey

Serbia has neonatal intensive care in Beograd, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Niš. Around 50 maternity hospitals have none of their own. Most general hospitals have a neonatal unit, and a few have intensive care beds for newborns. A baby born early who needs full intensive care must still be transferred to one of those four cities.

Expected routes are our best estimate: the center that lists the hospital in its region, or else the nearest center by road. We mark a route as confirmed once a hospital or doctor confirms it. The map shows the hospitals we know of so far, not all of them.

  • Novi Sad receives babies from Subotica, Zrenjanin, Sombor, Sremska Mitrovica, Vrbas, Vršac, Kikinda, Senta and Bačka Topola (confirmed).
  • Niš receives babies from Prokuplje, Vranje, Aleksinac, Surdulica and Zaječar (confirmed).
  • Užice receives babies from Prijepolje and Priboj (confirmed).
  • Kragujevac receives babies from Kosovska Mitrovica, Novi Pazar, Kruševac, Užice, Ćuprija, Paraćin, Aranđelovac and Kraljevo (confirmed).
  • Niš receives babies from Leskovac, Bor, Pirot, Majdanpek, Kladovo, Negotin and Knjaževac (expected, not yet confirmed).
  • Kragujevac receives babies from Čačak, Jagodina, Gornji Milanovac and Smederevska Palanka (expected, not yet confirmed).
  • Beograd receives babies from Valjevo, Loznica, Šabac, Požarevac, Smederevo, Pančevo and Petrovac na Mlavi (expected, not yet confirmed).

What your gift buys

Transport incubators come first: closed, heated beds that travel with the baby in the ambulance, so a baby stays warm and safe on the way to intensive care.

Hospitals that care for babies born early also need incubators, resuscitation tables, phototherapy lamps, bilirubinometers, monitors, pulse oximeters, syringe and infusion pumps, and breathing support. Everything beyond the transport incubators buys that equipment, chosen on verified need with the doctors who use it: what each hospital has today, how many babies it cares for, and how far it is from intensive care.

We will name the hospitals and the price of each item here once they are confirmed.

All proceeds go to neonatal equipment. LET'S REFRAME covers the costs of the campaign from its own funds.
